Have you ever been in a hard place and wondered what to do? These are some proven methods which I believe you will find very helpful when there seems to be no way out. We use these weapons in our home and ministry daily and though this will only get you started there is a wealth of weaponry in God’s word. You will find the Holy Spirit will empower you to use the word of God effectively and powerfully.

  • The Name of Jesus is a weapon __ “In My Name they will cast out demons” (Mark 16:17).
  • The Word of God in warfare__” take the helmet of salvation, which is the Word of God”. (Ephesians 6:17)
  • The power of the Holy Spirit __ Jesus said, “I cast out demons by the Spirit of God” (Matthew 12:28).
  • The Blood of Jesus __ We overcome the devil by the Blood of the Lamb (Revelation 12:11).

One day Peter and John went to the temple at the hour of prayer. They found a lame man at the gate called Beautiful.  He was asking alms of those who came to pray. Peter said, “Look on us,” the man did so and the Bible says that he was expecting to receive something. By the way, Frosty is my grand-dog and he belongs to Danette (my daughter), Jerry (my son-in-law) and Hannah (my granddaughter). With great expectancy Frosty comes begging hoping to receive something of the great lady, “Sarah,” Who is the sovereign ruler over the kitchen. When Frosty comes to our home he lies at the gate called “kitchen” and he is begging for alms. (Acts 3:1-11)

Recently Sarah said if we had that kind of hope or expectancy in God, we would find it much easier to receive from God.  After all, Faith is the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things I cannot see. (Heb 11:1) I have noticed that Frosty has great tenacity as well.  He knows that there is a reward if you just stay with it. He has had a taste of human food and he has a great desire for more.

So it is with us - the taste of Heaven and the blessing of God on our lives has forever changed us. We, all of us, desire the taste of heaven and the Spirit of God in our lives. So we too stand at the gate. Our Father God is the gateway to every blessing, every fulfilled dream. He is the gateway to the miracle power of heaven. He has and wants to bless you with every spiritual blessing in Christ Jesus from the heavenly realm. (Ephesians 1:3)  And here we stand Lord before You, and our hope and our faith will never be disappointed.

We were created to live without fear. Worry and fear are absolutely good for nothing; they have no upsides at all. Worry is a habit developed over a life time or it may be that you have succumbed to the trick of the enemy who wants to defeat you in the here and now. Paul said to the Philippians, be careful for nothing, that means don’t be anxious, don’t worry and don’t fret about anything. The answer to worry and fear is prayer, meditating in the Word of God and rejoicing in the Lord. (Philippians 4:6)

Again, Paul says, “What ever things are true what ever things are honest, those things that are just and pure, things that are lovely, things that are of good report, and if there be any virtue, if there be any praise, think on these things.” (Philippians 4:8) Paul had the same temptation all of us have to worry and be afraid, you are not alone. You have the cure; it is found in God’s word.

Verse seven says, “And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” The peace of God will mount guard over your heart and your life as you learn to meditate on Him. Worry is negative meditation, thinking and meditating on those things that Paul listed in Philippians 4:8 will squash worry and fear like an unwanted bug. God’s Word in you is like poison to worry and fear.  So fear will have no place in your life or your family. As you learn to give yourself to the Word, and develop a healthy thought life your spirit will grow strong. Released from worry and fear you will experience the life and growth of God’s world, the only world you were meant to experience.

“Now when it was evening, a rich man from Arimathea named Joseph came, who also was a disciple of Jesus himself.” (Matthew 27:57)

In our scripture reference it is simply noted, without judgment or malice, that Joseph of Arimathea was a rich man.  We can safely assume that neither poverty nor wealth has any particular spiritual significance. You can be poor or you can be rich. In the Word of God you will find every principle for success and prosperity. Joshua 1:8, 2 Corinthians 9:1-15, Deuteronomy 28:1-14 and 3rd John:2 would be a wonderful starter course for changing your life or you might choose to stay right where you are at and be satisfied.

Do you remember the song that was sung in Sunday School, it went something like this - “Zacchaeus was a wee little man, a wee little man was he.”  The songwriter didn’t put in the part about being rich. You see, Jesus never condemned the rich. His only rebuke was for the way that they handled money.  In fact, Jesus said to Zacchaeus, the wee little rich guy, “Today salvation has come to your house.”

Now, I know some of us would say, “I don’t aspire to be rich.” Then, I would say, at least aspire to what the Word says and let God work His abundance in your life and family. Jesus said, “For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance, but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.”  (Matthew 13:12) Abundance means excess, surplus, and full.  If you will believe it, God wants you to be filled full so that there is a surplus and an excess of all you need, according to His riches in glory. Note Paul’s words in ll Corinthians nine, verse six, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly, he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. In the next verses, the Word of God says He loves a cheerful giver and He is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you would be sufficient in all things and abound in every good work.

I have noticed that it takes very little activity whether spiritual or in the physical realm to be poor. It does take Faith in human energy to live in lack and pay the bills. It seems to me that faith in the Word of God is always bringing us up into His marvelous blessing and God’s desire is to prosper us so that we have enough and some left over. I like what John said, his prayer was that you may prosper in all things (to include your spiritual growth) and be in health just as your soul prospers. I believe you could say, according to 3rd John two, that you will never be blessed or prosper beyond your spiritual growth. So you see it is faith in God’s Word that causes us to grow in Christ, to succeed in life, to prosper and live an abundant life.

“If ye abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.”  (John 15:7)

You cannot think large enough or ask large enough unless the Word of God abides in you. The Word of God will enlarge your vision and renew your mind and you will begin to think the way your Father God thinks.

The first step in receiving anything from God is to decide what you need.  When you go to the supermarket, if you are a wise shopper, you will make a list of the things you need and buy only those things you need.  I have noticed that most people plan very well when it comes to shopping for something or setting goals.  When it comes to spiritual matters, however, they just, sort of, ya know, hope: maybe God will throw something at them, someday when He walks by.  Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, it doesn’t work that way, He lives in you and will be with you all the days of your life.

If you went to the supermarket and told the grocer that you need something to eat, you might be surprised at what he would put into your basket; probably some things you don’t need or want.  Now I know God can not be compared to a clerk in a store and God knows what you need before you ask, yet God said to ask. Asking is important, it is in fact one of the first signs of a relationship which we will call “Abiding in Christ”.  As we abide or take up residence in Jesus our Lord, confidence begins to grow to new heights and His will becomes more apparent in our lives.

John the Apostle said, “And this is the confidence that we have in Him that, if we ask any thing according to His will, He hears us: and if we know that He hears us, what ever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him.”  (1 John 5:14, 15) Now, what is His will? Of course, it is the Word of God, the Bible.  So if we ask according to the Bible, or His Word, He hears us.  Let me make this suggestion.  If you will read the Bible, think about the Bible and talk about the Bible, you will know how to pray according to the will of God.

Now the next verse gets better. It says that if we know that He hears us, we know that we have the requests that we desired of Him.  Ask according to His will, know that He hears you, and begin from that moment on to thank Him for the answer to your petition. Mark 11:23-24 teaches us something about receiving from God. “He said when you pray believe you receive and you will have the petitions you desired of Him.” I always tell people after we pray, that answered prayer is contingent upon our receiving, so it is time to act like the Word is true and take hold by faith what you have asked for.
